Jack-
Jack looked in the taxi driver's rear view mirror for a moment, checking that he wasn't trying to read the letter. It was brief and to the point, simply detailing that a group called the 'Newsmen' had just come to the attention of ASIO, that they were definitely trying something in the UK, and that he was to offer his services to MI6 as one of ASIO's best. He was reading the letter for at least the fifth time.
The cab pulled up outside the MI6 building, Jack folding the letter again and slipping in into his coat before making his way inside. He stood in the foyer, looking about himself for a moment before walking to the receptionist. He smiled, "Jack Buckley, Australian Secret Intelligence Organisation, I've got an appointment with Mr. Dunn?"
She smiled sweetly at him, "I'm sorry, Mr. Buckley, but the director is busy right now, and the colonies aren't high on his priorities right now. I'm afraid you'll have to wait."
Jack ground his teeth together for a moment. The colonies? Most people would never dream of making a remark like that. He smiled himself, "I'm afraid this goes a little above your pay-rate, miss, so I can't tell you why I'm here. Just buzz him for me and tell him I need to see him now."
She shook her head, "No can do, Mr. Buckley. Unless-" At that moment, the lift doors opened and the man Jack recognised from his briefing as the director stepped out with a young blond woman at his side.
Jack gave the receptionist one last look, "Thankyou, miss." He then turned back to the lift, crossing the foyer, "Mr. Dunn?"
"Sorry, I'm in a hurry."
"It's about the Newsmen, sir."
The director stopped for a moment, then started to walk again, "Keep talking to me, you'll come with us."
"I'm from ASIO, they sent me to help you with the threat to the Prime Minister."
He nodded, "We knew about that."
"We also caught one of the men involved in the assassination in China. Not the assassin himself, obviously, but someone linked to him. Unfortunately, he didn't reveal who, where or how in time, but we managed to trace some of his phone calls back to here. Granted, we don't know where their safe house is, but we know they have people in the West End, if that's any help." |

Ten waited drove across the city with a smile to his face.
The phone rang, not suprisngly, from the Newsman's.
" What the hell did you do?" The man on the other line screamed. Ten coulden't help but laugh.
" What the hell is so funny?!?"
" First, that you keep saying hell whenever we talk, and finally. I know you send those men, they told me."
The other line was silent.
Ten looked at the photo of him being suprised by the man with the knife. He then saw something in the shadows of the photo.
" Take..." The Phone garbled.
Ten then saw what it was. It was a man with a sniper rifle.
The window behind him popped. He ducked immietidly and looked at the round in the front window.
" Ten?" The man on the other line said camly. Ten quickly held his breath.
" He's not responding. Send in a team to clean it up and take the weapons blueprints from him.
After a few minutes, Two men from the Newsman pulled open the door and saw Ten still slumped over.
" All right, Unhook the seatbelt." A man said and the other reached for the seatbelt...and had a gun to his head.
" Is the sniper still watching?" Ten said without moving his lips.
Both men knew about Ten's shooting, they knew they would both be dead if they made a move.
" We just are here to collect a body...we don't know about a sniper." One of the men whispered.
Ten smiled." I know your lying...that's why I'm not going to kill you. I just want you to radio the sniper to tell him to get their sights off my car."
One of the men reached their radio and told into it that Ten was dead. Ten then waited two minutes and then got up in a upright position.
" Thank you gentlmen. I want you to know I love your loyality. How would you like to work for me?"
They both Nodded eagerly.
" That was a test. Now I could shoot you."
Ten shot each of them in the leg and drove off.
" I told you we should have became...Accouants!" One of the men spitted. |
