Call it introspection, I'm inspector gadget,
I tell you what check, know what check I've had it
Can't go-go gadget arm and take the famine out of continents
so I gotta sing this song get a bit demonstrative
Corporations leave, say As-Salamu Alaykum
Children can't even buy the stuff they make em
Blood for oil we've got oil for blood
runs through our veins till our brains turn to sludge
Words are basic words are acidic
The acts of Patriots got me trapped in cryptic
worlds I'm falling like a flag unfurled
Liberty dude, yo she ain't that girl
That I've read about, that I think I love
I turn on the news ask what we're thinking of
Wikipedia it says we're democracy
But in government all I sees hypocrisy
Genocides we can't report yo we can't stop it see
Cause this garbage man has won the fucking lottery
And that's what we call a feel good story
That distracts your mind from the blood and gory
But that's a forgery, it's not real, it's fake
Compassionate conservatives don't love they hate
I'ma tell you now that world's got problems
And I know what we can do to solve them
Yeah I know that our mindset now is messed up
But I'll tell you here right now I'll fess up
I will change myself
Then I will change the world.
When military industrial gets more money than schools
We figure out late that we raise a bunch of fools
But no child left behind the rest of us gotta wait
While these kids do macaroni these kids finger paint
And then our future looks like one of Piccassos
We can't deal with the world when the world is hostile
This is travesty this is a debacle
no one can agree on the reasons that we topple
governments when simple evil's not enough
it's cool you can lie to us you can make up stuff
If we took out Sadam because Sadam was an a-hole
You'd think that other countries would help us keep it stable
We're good here but power projections fable
We say all options for Iran are on the table
But we're missing our fork and knife
What I mean is our army is under strife
We're recruiting convicts to make up for quotas
We'd have a draft if Bush could get the votas
But we have a draft it's called a poverty one
Where escape from the hood is “sir yes sir” and a gun
The world I want and the world I see are different
confidence we lack the will to be self sufficient
People want someone to tell them the answers
But the questions are unknown like newfound cancers
We look to media balanced and fairest
Put our trust in these mental terrorists
To tell us what to think tell us what to do
Put your cash in this stock ayo buy this shoe
What they want for me
Is different from what I want to be
I'ma tell you now that world's got problems
And I know what we can do to solve them
Yeah I know that our mindset now is messed up

The change doesn't come from highest peaks
or from swirling seas
it comes from the inner soul
it comes from you and me
First we must stop the war inside ourselves
rearrange the texts that line our mental shelves
Else we're stuck here we're stuck in mental hells
Trapped in place we're stuck in mental shells
That's mental, we're mentally unwell
When we don't get up answer the bell
It's tolling, can you hear it, it's loudly
Get up and move out move out proudly
If you don't want Iraq then don't beat your wife
If you don't like surveillance don't let 'em watch your life
If hunger's your worry change the way you give food
and if it's poverty than change the way you see hoods
If you want to help the world join Habitats or the Peace Corps

You can sit there and call me an optimist
but through optometrists I can see clearly now
I don't have time for naysayers I'm nearly now
about to change the world yo, stop. My time is now.
