The contest:

What do these photos mean to you? Probably something different than what they mean to me. Find me the story behind one of these images, and utilize it prominently in a piece of fiction. I understand prominent is inherently subjective, so go with your gut about it. For example, the picture of the Tiger. Your main character doesn't have to be a tiger, but a tiger should somehow play a large part in your story/poem. Don't fret a ton about this though, I'm lenient. No one sentence references or anything though! The topic is broad and I really want to see where these take you guys in your imaginations!

Rules:

A. Both prose and poetry are fine, but as a matter of disclosure know that I don't enjoy poetry as much as fiction so you'd have a tougher road.

B. You must write about one of the photos but you may write about more than one if you wish. Let me know which picture you selected to write about.

C. The deadline is October 13, 2008. I'll be flexible about extensions but after a certain point I'm going to judge what I've got.

D. One entry per person please.

e. Genres: Anything

F. Word count: No limit

G. Rating: Anything

H. Lettuce, Tomato, Onion: yes please.

Prizes:

Ya know, the part everyone cares about?

1st place: 5 reviews on any pieces of your choice

2nd place: 4 reviews on any pieces of your choice

3rd place: 3 reviews on any pieces of your choice

Just for entering: each contestant gets one review on a piece of their work of my choosing.

Questions?

A. Just ask. Feel free to post or PM me.

Ah! More picture prompts. ^_^ I'm really terrible at keeping promises for these things, but I'd definitely love to play around with these.

Man, that third one is scary! Is that real?!
I'm really liking two of these so I may write one...

The skeleton took the cigarette out of it's mouth and looked at the pathetic old man at his feet.

"What is it you want." The old skeletal figure asked the old, old man.

"I want to life for a day or two, if thai graces to give me the time." The old and wrinkly man replied in a tone that no one has ever before known.

"You have lived for days. As I recall you came to the maze three moons ago." The skeletal figure said.

The old man looked poorly like dead man would surely "But would you not give me an other chance for a new victory dance?" The grizzly old hag of a man asked.

The skeleton looked thinking and when it had pondered the issue for a while it affronted the question worldwide "If I were to release you, the other would want to be released too.
What would they do if I would say no to them if I were to say yes to you.
So I will not give ye' an other chance for a victory dance." The skeleton put the cigarette back into his mouth and beckoned the guards to take the waving man back where he sat.
At the gates off hell, no one felt too well.

The skeleton; death looked at his old, old maze, and thought that this was his place.

People would come down here everyday,
on the other side they would think that the maze,
was a way to heaven but on the other side they would be beaten,
first to bulk then to chalk.

Yes this was hell,
The eternal spell.

Haha let me clear this up for everyone. If you don't have the points to post it in the forums (romance, action, fantasy, dramatic poetry etc.) or for some other reason want it here, then yeah, feel free to post it in this thread.

Preferably though, I'd love it if people could post their story in the relevant sub-forum. This is for a couple reasons, 1. it makes it easier for me to review at the end and 2. It lets other people critique and comment on your story to help you make it better.

If you could post in this thread a hyperlink like this: Ye Shall Be As Gods

Or this: http://www.youngwriterssociety.com/topic33615.html

And tell me the title of the story, that'd be best for both of us I think. I should have been more clear with Anzius. Whoops! But no worries, it's basically cool where ever you post it as long as I can find it when it comes time to judge. Sorry for the confusion guys, thanks for the interest!
