Oh, one thing that did surprise me last weekend; I was with Rachel and her friend Lauren and we went to the mall. I was walking with them, then when we got to the door, I held it open for them like I do for all women, that's just how I was raised. But anyway, after they walked through the door Rachel's friend said "Your too nice, act like a boy." She was kinda joking, but when someone tells you basically to stop being nice because it's not natural, that's bad.
I completely agree Aniar. I went with my friend to one of her youth group's parties and all the girls got their food before the guys and the guys also opened and closed doors like it was the most natural thing in the world.
It surprised me...it was old fashioned and just really cool. They were all complete gentlemen the entire time and it was a really nice change from the boys I'm normally around. Needless to say, I'm going to be hanging around with that group a lot more.
It's sad when our culture thinks it's weird for someone to hold open the door for another person.
