Who talks you down when times get rough? Who doesn't believe in you? Complain about them here! (Not their actual identity)

My own brother talks me down. He tells me that I'm wasting time, and I'll never finish my novel. And that it's horrible anyway. Catch is, he hasn't even read two pages!

That’s horrible! Someone with thin skin could be destroyed by remarks like that, though you’re clearly doing fine. (At least, from what you said).

My meanie naysayer is myself when I realize I haven’t gotten time to write in a week. I try to be easier on myself, but it sure isn’t easy.
What's the point of success if it makes me miserable?

True. It probably wouldn’t be nearly as gratifying if it was.
What's the point of success if it makes me miserable?

I'm my own meanie naysayer, honestly.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
— Brené Brown
