The effects of teen “Sexting”
We were all young at one point. Have you ever been young and in love? Thinking they were the one for you? Then comes a day when they feel like they want you to send the inappropriate pictures. When you take that picture to send, you’re actually breaking the law. In a article “Teen Sexting can have serious consequences” by Joshua Herman it states “anyone he or she should know is under the age of 18 and who is engaged in any sexual act or in any pose involving lewd exhibition of unclothed or transparently clothed genitals, pubic area, buttocks, or female breast. There is no exception for taking pictures of oneself. Thus, a 17-year-old who snaps his or her own revealing picture has technically created child pornography, a Class 1 felony with a mandatory fine of between $2,000 and $100,000 and at least four years in prison.” So my opinion is don’t sext if you want to send the pictures why not just go and have sex.
1 reason you shouldn’t sext is in a article “Teen Sexting can have serious consequences” by Joshua Herman it says “after hundreds of people were sent sext messages a teen had sent only to her boyfriend, she was cruelly harassed through MySpace and Facebook, leading her to hang herself.” People can do cruel things like this leading to killing yourself. A second example of this is when somebody gets your phone and goes through it and finds the pictures and reports it to the cops. Example of this is a article “Sexting” Suit Settled by "The Associated Press” it states “A Pennsylvania school district has settled a lawsuit alleging that a principal illegally searched a student’s cell phone, found nude pictures she had taken of herself, and turned the device over to prosecutors.
The 2,737-student Tunkhannock Area School District denied any wrongdoing, but agreed to pay the student and her lawyers $33,000 to settle the case. So this is important because it shows that people can find the pictures and get you in major trouble.
Some parents are very concerned about their teenagers. In an article "No worries? Well, maybe a few ..." Current Health Teens it states the top 10 worries parents have about their teenagers: “1. (Tied) Drug abuse, 2. (Tied) Obesity, 3.Smoking and tobacco use, 4.Teen pregnancy, 5.Bullying, 6.Internet safety, 7.Stress, 8.Alcohol abuse, 9.Driving accidents, 10.Sexting (sending and receiving suggestive text messages) so this shows that parents are concerned about their teenagers. Also you shouldn’t do sexting it puts you down and makes people think that you are a “whore”.
Some people may disagree and think sexting it amazing and that they love to do it, but in my opinion it’s a disgrace to your body. Some of you who might be reading this may say that sexting is the greatest thing on earth….argue with me tell me why you think sexting is amazing. If you think that your parents won’t find out; well they can check the internet and go to your phones carrier and find what you have sent. A good example of this is from “Teen Sexting can have serious consequences” by Joshua Herman “Families should discuss the legal and moral issues surrounding sexting. Parents should frequently review their child's social media, e.g., messages on cell phones, Facebook, MySpace, etc., and set rules for the use of such media. Teenagers and their families should also review their school's policies related to electronic devices and prohibited student conduct Teens should not create, possess, solicit, or send/forward sext messages. Teens possessing such messages involuntarily have a defense. To ensure the efficacy of this defense, teens must be vigilant in discovering and deleting sext messages.” They should do this to keep you safe from breaking the law.
Like I said we were all young at one point. We have you ever been young and in love? We were also thinking they were the one for you? The reason I chose to write about “Sexting” is because I know people that have sexted; they got into so much trouble and lost internet for 4 years and just got it back. They also realized that doing the “sext” was disgraceful to their body and their reputation. Plus the picture will never ever go away after you capture the photo; the person you send it to is also a disgrace they receive/send a picture it’s just wrong. To keep you safe don’t “sext” messages also its breaking the law and under the age of 17 that is considered as child pornography and you can go to jail and get sentenced time for each picture that is on the phone. Sexting can ruin you and those pictures can follow you for the rest of your life it’s never going anywhere. Plus I know you don’t want to get in trouble for sending nude pictures I know I wouldn’t my mother would kill me. So stay safe and don’t do this and do what people say how sexting is cool and how much a girl or boy wants a photograph of your personal areas. Those pictures can get you in major trouble with the law and you will always have a reputation of being a “whore” or “being easy” or just plain “desperate” So please remember this while you are reading DON’T EVER SEND A SEXT MESSAGE NO MATTER WHAT OR WHO. I know your parents want yo keep you safe and keep you out of jail.
