What's happening?
On the last Sunday of every month, YWS holds a Review Day where we try to do as many reviews as we can. During this, you can usually join one of two teams, and the team with the most points at the end of the day wins. You earn points by reviewing, and the better the review, the more the points.
This month, we're still having the Review Day, but we're switching things up with a Reviewing World Cup! This means there'll be four teams based on region rather than two teams.
Four teams?
Each of the four teams represent roughly 20% to 30% of the YWS community:
Eastern United States - Everything east of the Mississippi (See this map)
Western United States - Everything west of the Mississippi (See this map)
The Commonwealth - United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand
International - Everywhere else
Beginning a few days before the Reviewing World Cup, you'll be able to join the team of your choice. This way, if you're an American living in England or a Brit living in Japan, you're able to join your home region rather than being stuck with what your IP address says.
Wait... if you can choose what team you join, won't the teams be unequal?
Normally, the winning team is the team with the most points. For the Reviewing World Cup, though, the winning team is the team with the most points per capita.
So lets say Team Western US has 70 members and 20,000 points. That's about 286 points per capita. But, lets say Team International has 50 members and 15,000 points. That's 300 points per capita. So even though Team Western US has more points, Team International wins because they have more points per capita.
When does all this begin?
By the way, no overall goal this time. Instead, we're going to go for as many as we can!
