It's that time of year again! April is almost upon us, which means we need to get planning for NaPo. PCrew & Co. had a meeting to brainstorm on the weekend, and we came away with lots of fabulous ideas! We're always open for some cross-crew collaboration, though, so feel free to chime in with input and ideas of your own.
Pre-NaPo Hype
> #Freindshippoems are always a fan favourite! They also advance the agenda of getting everyone to stop using capitalization or punctuation in their poetry, so, yknow, I won't complain.
> Last year we went for a jam theme for NaPo and a bunch of mods changed their profile pictures to jam jars and made cryptic #jammified wall posts for build-up to NaPo. This year, we were thinking of doing more of a cat café theme (@tatteredbones had a big say in this one, I won't lie), so if any mods reading this could change their avvies to coffee or cats or coffee AND cats in the next couple of weeks that would be splendid!
Sorry, I'm sorry, I know gifs aren't super professional and whatnot but I couldn't help myself. NaPo makes me lose all sense of professionalism.
When It's Actually NaPo
The best part!
> LOTS of poetry write-ins. We're talking every single minute of every single day. @lliyah suggested we could form a rotation of mods who can swap out every couple of hours so that there's always someone running an official, mod-affiliated poetry jam - we will need ALL hands on deck for this though so if you could sign up over in this WFP (password: poetry 24/7) I will be FOREVER in your debt. (Seriously, you can hit me up for a review or a personalized haiku or $1,000,000 CAD any time <3)
> Nate offered to add in another genre in the publishing center for NaPo (Nate, if you're reading this, you're the best). alliyah already peer pressured him into adding a "chickens" genre a while ago, so that's off the list. I was thinking maybe "uncontrollable angst" or "whimsical stream-of-consciousness" or just plain "water" could be strong candidates. Thoughts? Concerns?
> @Plume had an amazing contest idea to see who can write a poem that sounds the most like it was generated by AI. If it's discovered that any contestants actually used AI software to create their entry they WILL be immediately disqualified. I'm not sure about the logistics on that, so if anyone techy (@Shady? @Liminality? @Carina if you are still alive?) has suggestions on how to screen entries for AI plagiarism, those would be greatly appreciated.
That's it so far! I'm really excited for this NaPo - I think we've got a lot of new and innovative ideas that will generate a lot of activity on the site. The people are gonna love it. So yeah, I'll leave it at that, but PCrew is wide open for suggestions and/or assistance in executing our plans!
Signing off,
