I found a website similar to NaNoWriMo but for people 17 and under. You can choose your word count. I think it's a great site for beginners. http://ywp.nanowrimo.org/ Ya, I know what you're thinking. But really, if you're not doing the orignal than at least look at this!
Looking for someone who won't disappoint you? Look to Jesus.
YWP is, as you probably guessed, is run through the original NaNo. I've never done anything other then the original NaNo myself but I think the YWP (totally almost typed YWS there) is a really great idea for the younger ones as well as the less experienced NaNoers.

Never forget who you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.
Yes, I've heard of it on one of the staff choices ^.^ and so I created an account there. It's my first NaNo, so I set a 20k word count. Hopefully, I'll pass that
Piglet: How do you spell love? Pooh: You don't spell it. You feel it.
I love ywp.nanowrimo. I'm on it all the time, more than facebook (WAY more than facebook, nano is basically my fb now xD) and I luffle everybody there. we're all so crazy in a writery-way. the adult nanowrimo is boring, and doesn't even have siggies!! :O
that awkward moment when a sentence doesn't end the way you think it octopi.
