E - Everyone

Regrettable, Forgettable

by Inferno

I hooked my pinkie around his own,

In that meaningful gesture, our friendship was sown

"An oath never to break..."

"Never to bend..."

I continued, "Even if all is at stake,

We will continue as friends.

And most important of all,

Until the very end,

We will never forget each other."

He shook his hand,

"Never ever."

Little did I know, pain would occur from that promise, and it would be grand.

And so, the promise wasn't to be severed

Or so I thought...

Life had taken us separate ways,

But I had him in my mind every single day.

20 years later, on a busy morning, it struck me

Standing only a few yards away... there was he!

And though...

Yes, I know

He looked very busy.

But how can one contain,

An excitement so great?

I dashed to him, my arms stretched wide

I threw them around him with tears in my eyes.

He looked at me

Quizzically

With that lopsided smile of his.

Together once more.

The oath had stayed true!

But then he pushed away from me,

And asked, "I'm sorry, who are you?"

I'm not a huge fan of poems, but I like yours. This one as well.

There is this nostalgic feeling of long lost childhood friend who was more of a crush than just a friend which we all have probably.

Also, you paint a very relatable picture of some regret one might feel with years for missed opportunities in the past.

Weirdly enough, although the end is sad, i kind of like to imagine it allowed her to finally let go :)

Hi names 22Midnight
hope your doing well, let's get into it!

First Impression: from the title name it seems like this may be about something that someone did that they'll regret for the rest of there life and might be able to forget it but not completely.

I hooked my pinkie around his own,

In that meaningful gesture, our friendship was sown

"An oath never to break..."

"Never to bend..."

I continued, "Even if all is at stake,

We will continue as friends.

And most important of all,

Until the very end,

We will never forget each other."

He shook his hand,

"Never ever."

lovely start this person really seems to love who there with and i'm getting the feeling that they want it to be more then just a friendship, but that's going to take time of course to decide if there friendship should change or not.

Little did I know, pain would occur from that promise, and it would be grand.

And so, the promise wasn't to be severed

Or so I thought...

Life had took us separate ways,

But I had him in my mind every single day.

this seems sad to know that they had to say goodbye to each other it seems so that they could do what they needed to, but still the person telling the poem seems to hold on to hope that they'll still see each other again and everything will go back to normal.

20 years later, on one busy morning, it struck me

Standing only a few yards away... there was he!

And though...

Yes, I know

He looked very busy.

and here we see that the person has finally seen after so many years that magical friend that they never wanted to be away from.

But how can one contain,

An excitement so great?

I dashed to him, my arms stretched wide

I threw them around him with tears in my eyes.

He looked at me

Quizzically

With that lopsided smile of his.

Together once more.

The oath had stayed true!

But then he pushed away from me,

And asked, "I'm sorry, who are you?"

they must feel so happy I'm feeling so excited for the main character here as the rush forward to hug there friend, but wait he doesn't even remember who she is that's sad that really hit hard about how embarrassing that must have been for the person hugging him.

Overall this was a really well written poem that was filled with so many different emotions that drew me into read further to find out more, and then that really empty feeling in the end really done well i'd say this was spot on fantastic.

anyway that's it from me

hope you have a great dawn/dusk/midnight

See Ya
