Shakespeare had a remarquable understanding of life, i.e. he was extremely adept at capturing the essence of what it means to be human. I believe that it is this talent of his that has allowed his works to withstand the test of time...the "human experience" in its most simplistic form (raw emotion) is universally understood and basically unchanging, which is why we all can relate.
